Woodlawn Heights: Named Male Person of Interest Sought for Attempted Rape

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached media who they say is wanted in connection to an attempted rape that occurred in Woodlawn Heights.

Police said that on Saturday, May 25, at around 1.32 a.m., in the vicinity of Vireo Avenue and East 235th Street, a 26-year-old woman was approached by an unidentified man from behind, placed in a chokehold, and dragged to the ground. “The individual was last seen fleeing [the] location in a blue scooter to parts unknown,” a police spokesperson said. “The victim sustained minor abrasions from this incident and refused further medical attention on scene.”

 

Police said the person of interest is 45-year-old Miguel Rivera. He is described as male, has a light complexion and a medium build and was last seen wearing a black hat, a black shirt, gray pants, and black sneakers.

 

Rivera is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
