Williamsbridge: Police Launch Murder Investigation after Woman Found with Throat Slashed

Police launched a homicide investigation after a 37-year-old woman was found with her throat slashed in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx in the early hours of Saturday morning.

 

Police said that on Saturday, June 1, at around 6.08 a.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a woman who had been assaulted at 1418 Oakley Street.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 37-year-old female with a slash wound to her neck, unconscious and unresponsive,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where she was pronounced deceased.”

 

Police said there were no immediate arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.  The deceased was identified as Ashley Smith, 37, of East Lincoln Avenue in Mt. Vernon.
