A car flipped on its roof and apparently burst into flames on the Bronx River Parkway at East Gun Hill Road on Tuesday afternoon, May 30.
An FDNY spokesperson said the department received a call regarding the incident at 2.02 p.m. on Tuesday and that FDNY units responded to reports of an overturned vehicle on fire.

The spokesperson indicated that three victims were ambulatory, meaning they could wait for treatment and were considered “walking wounded.”
They were transported to Jacobi Medical Center and St. Barnabas Hospital respectively for treatment, the spokesperson said. Their genders, ages and conditions were unknown according to the FDNY.

We contacted the NYPD for more information about the cause of the accident and were advised to send an email. We will update this story upon receipt of more information.
Following collisions, the NYPD handles all criminal investigations, while DOT reviews the street design at the impacted locations to establish if it may have been a contributing factor in the incident.

Traffic in the vicinity has been impacted due to lane closures. One Citizen App user uploaded a video that showed police and other emergency vehicles at the scene and a burned out vehicle.
As reported, it was the second accident to take place at the same general location within a 24-hour period.
