Police said they have made an arrest in the case of the fatal shooting of 26-year-old man Justin Rodriguez in Williamsbridge earlier this year.
As reported, according to the NYPD, on June 29 at around 00.32 a.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at East 213th Street and Holland Avenue.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right leg,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, in stable condition.
Further investigation revealed a second victim from the incident location, a 26-year-old male, was transported, via private means, to Montefiore Medical Center, with sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder.”
Police said the second man was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. They said there were no initial arrests, and the investigation remained ongoing.
On July 1, the deceased was identified as Rodriguez of East 214th Street in Williamsbridge.
On Oct. 17, police said that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Marquel Brown, 27, from Connecticut was arrested on Monday, Oct. 16, at 5.05 p.m. in The Bronx. They said he was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon (a loaded firearm).
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
