West Farms: Woman Dies following Hit & Run Incident

A woman estimated to be in her thirties has died following a hit and run incident in West Farms.

 

NYPD officials said that on Friday, July 1, at around 10.18 p.m., police officers responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle in front of 1922 West Farms Road, located in the 48th Precinct.

 

“Upon arrival, officers discovered a unidentified female victim in her approximate 30s, unconscious and unresponsive, lying in the roadway with severe body trauma,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”

 

The official added, “Further investigation by the NYPD highway district collision investigation squad determined the female attempted to cross West Farms Road and was struck by a white van traveling southbound on West Farms Road at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene and there are no arrests. NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.”

 

The identification of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
