Police are looking to question the driver of a vehicle that struck an MTA bus in the West Farms section of the Bronx over the weekend, causing injury to one person, before fleeing the scene of the collision.
According to a police spokesperson, the crash was reported at 00:50 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Southern Boulevard.
The spokesperson told Norwood News, “Upon arrival of police to the scene, the 53-year-old male operator of Vehicle #1 (MTA bus) reported that he was traveling westbound on East Tremont Avenue when Vehicle #2 (a red sedan) being operated by an unknown individual, ran a red light and collided with the bus.”
According to police, the driver of the red sedan fled the scene, and the 53-year-old bus driver pulled over and waited for police to arrive. They said he was later transported to BronxCare Hospital in stable condition.
We have asked if there were any passengers on the bus at the time of the collision and will update this story upon receipt of clarification. Detectives from the 48th Precinct continue to investigate the incident.
