Weekend Bridge and Street Closures May 3-5 in The Bronx

NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) advises residents of the following street and bridge closures in The Bronx as of the weekend May 3-5.

 

Manhattan/Bronx

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

The right lane in both directions will close Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and an alternating center lane in either direction will close Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May 10 to facilitate rope cable cleaning, machinery repairs, and electrical conduit installation. Alternating sidewalk closures will be in effect.

 

Washington Bridge over the Harlem River (181st Street)

Single-lane, Manhattan-bound traffic will be closed off Monday to Friday from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. through May 24 to facilitate the installation of a concrete barrier for the protected bike lane.

 

Bronx

East 153rd Street between Bergen Avenue and Third Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through May. 10 for concrete pours and material deliveries.

 

West 169th Street between Nelson Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through June 1 for use of knuckle, boom and concrete pump operations.

 

East 176th Street between Belmont Avenue and Crotona Avenue

This street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 22 to facilitate crane operation.

 

East 180th Street between Ryer Avenue and Anthony Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through May 18 for concrete pouring and booming operations.

 

East 180th Street between Anthony Avenue and Ryer Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through June 3 to place a crane to erect a new building.

 

East 196th Street between Briggs Avenue and Bainbridge Avenue

This street will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Monday to Friday through July 24 for a tele handler for facade and roof work.

 

East 228th Street between Lowerre Place and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 10 for mainline track repairs.

 

East 229th Street between Lowerre Place and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 10 for mainline track repairs.

 

East 230th Street between Lowerre Place and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 10 for mainline track repairs.

 

East 231st Street between Carpenter Avenue and White Plains Road

This street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 10 for mainline track repairs.

 

West 262nd Street between Huxley Avenue and Broadway

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday through June 30 for use of concrete pumps, boom trucks and knuckle boom.

 

Continental Avenue between East 194th Street and Westchester Avenue/NYCTA Subway

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through April 30 to hoist and erect precast plank, precast stairs, structural steel and materials.

 

Gerard Avenue between East 150th Street and East 151st Street

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through June 2 for new building construction.

 

Belmont Avenue between East 176th Street and Dead End

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through June 3 for new building construction.

 

Bush Street between Creston Avenue and Grand Concourse

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 17 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Creston Avenue between 196th Street and East Kingsbridge Road

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through July 24 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Weiher Court between Washington Avenue and Third Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 31 for use of crane to erect new building.

 

Andrews Avenue between Hall of Fame Terrace and West 183rd Street

This street will be closed from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday to Friday through June 29 for boom truck for lifting materials to school building.

 

Andrews Avenue between West 176th Street

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday, Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through June 1 hoisting and pumping operations.

 

Whitlock Avenue between Aldus Street and East 165th Street

This street will be closed 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through June 4 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Cruger Avenue between Sagamore Street and Bronxdale Avenue

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through June 28 for MTA contract C-35311 work zone and MP 6.

 

Villa Avenue between East 205th Street and Van Cortlandt Avenue East

This street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 12 for boom and knuckle boom to work on building.

 

Park Avenue between East 138th Street and East 135th Street

This street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday through May 31 for all superstructure operations.

 

Sacket Avenue between Hone Avenue and Paulding Avenue

This street be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through May 10 for a drainage tie into an existing manhole in the street.

 

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound traffic will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and single-lane in both directions will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. next morning through May 10 to facilitate maintenance. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

 

Anthony Avenue between East 176th Street and East 175th Street

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through May 10 to facilitate crane operation.

 

Mahan Avenue between Middletown Road and Roberts Avenue

This street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to facilitate crane operation.

 

Grand Concourse Bridge over Metro North Railroad Hudson Line between 151st Street and 153rd Street

Two lanes of traffic in both directions are shifted to the southbound lanes and structural steel repair work will continue through May 31. Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. next morning.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway northbound between Exit 1B (East Tremont/Westchester Avenues) and Entrance ramp from Hutchinson River Parkway East

Single-lane northbound traffic will close Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning, Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. next day, and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m. next day. Double-lane northbound will close Monday to Friday from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., and Sunday from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. These closures are necessary to facilitate Westchester Avenue Bridge reconstruction and will continue through June 30.

 

Hutchinson River Parkway Southbound between Exit 1C (Pelham Parkway) and Entrance ramp from Westchester Avenue

Single-lane southbound traffic will close Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. next morning, Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. next morning, and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. next day. Double-lane southbound will close Monday to Friday from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday from 1 a.m. to 6.30 a.m., and Sunday from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. These closures are necessary to facilitate Westchester Avenue Bridge reconstruction and will continue through June 30.

 

Entrance Ramp from Southbound Sheridan Boulevard (NY-895) to Westbound Bruckner Expressway (I-278)

This ramp will be closed through December 24, to facilitate Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. Trucks and buses are advised to use the exit ramp towards Edgewater Road/Hunts Point Market and follow the detour signs and use the Leggett Avenue entrance ramp to westbound Bruckner Expressway. Cars are advised to use the temporary exit ramp towards Whitlock Avenue and follow the detour signs to westbound Bruckner Expressway.

 

Major Deegan Expressway (northbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp north of East 138th Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m., and Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138th Street Bridge replacement. Full closure may occur Monday to Friday between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. for demolition and erection of the superstructure.

 

Major Deegan Expressway (southbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp south of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m., and Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138th Street Bridge replacement. Southbound exit ramp to 138th Street bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. next morning, Saturday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. next morning, and Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. next morning to facilitate water main connections.
