Detectives in the 49th precinct are looking for two gunmen who entered an apartment and shot a man in Pelham Parkway before fleeing the area. The shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents that have been reported recently in the area.

On Monday, March 8, NYPD spokeswoman and detective, Annette Shelton, said the incident was reported at 11:36 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, inside an apartment building in the vicinity of Wallace Avenue and Pelham Parkway South in the 49th precinct.

Shelton said, “A 32-year-old male victim reported to police that when he opened his apartment door, two unidentified males entered. He was shot in the left forearm and both individuals fled.”

NYPD confirmed that the unidentified victim was transported to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition. The department has not yet made an arrest, and is continuing to investigate the case.

The shooting comes less than two weeks after Adam Saunders, 23, of Brooklyn was discovered inside a second-floor apartment on Cruger Avenue, at 9:38 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22 and is deceased. In relation to that incident, Shelton had said that Saunders suffered “multiple stab wounds to the torso” and died at the scene.

On Wednesday, March 3, detectives arrested Johnnie Vickers, 39, of Cruger Avenue and charged him with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in relation to Saunders’ death.

Meanwhile, police are still looking for the gunman who shot and seriously injured a 14-year-old boy at the Pelham Parkway Houses, in front of 2220 Wallace Avenue. That incident was reported at 4.18 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16. The unidentified victim was shot in the chest and neck. Police have not made an arrest in this case, and continue to investigate the incident.

Police also continue to search for the gunman wanted in connection with the November 1st fatal shooting of Allan Benn, 36, of Parkchester. Benn was shot in the neck and chest outside 2143 Barnes Avenue, where friends said he had been attending a Halloween party the night before.
