Wakefield: Man Arrested for Burglary & Sexual Assault of Woman

A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a burglary and sexual assault of a woman in the Wakefield section of The Bronx, police said.

 

The NYPD had been asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached video and photo who they said was sought in connection with the incident.

Police said that on Saturday, June 29, at around 4.30 a.m. in the vicinity of East 230th Street and White Plains Road, an unidentified individual broke into the home of a 20-year-old female victim. “Once inside, the unknown individual sexually assaulted the victim,” a police spokesperson said. “The unidentified individual then fled the location on foot.”

The suspect was described as male and was last seen wearing a white tank-top, dark-colored shorts, and white-colored socks.

 

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, police said the Claudio Miranda of East 230th Street in Wakefield, The Bronx was arrested on Monday, July 8, at 9.50 a.m. within the boundaries of the 41st Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Hunts Point and Longwood.

 

Police said he was charged third-degree burglary, a first-degree criminal sex act and bribing a witness. He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
