Wakefield: Man, 18, Arrested in Murder Case of Elijah Dukuray, 23

NYPD officials said an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Elijah Dukuray, 23, in Wakefield last year.

 

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Jan. 12, police said on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 10.38 a.m. an unnamed 18-year-old man was arrested in the 47th Precinct. He was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

 

On Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at approximately 8.41 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired in the vicinity of Bronxwood Avenue and East 233rd Street in Wakefield.

 

An NYPD spokesperson said, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 23-year-old male, unconscious, with a gunshot wound to the neck.” The spokesperson added, “EMS responded and transported the aided male to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased.”

On Nov. 25, 2022, the deceased was identified as Dukuray of East 143rd Street in Mott Haven.

 

The NYPD later asked for the public’s help locating the vehicle seen in the attached photos in connection with the murder. The license plates last seen on the vehicle were New York plates K14NUZ, police said.

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
