The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating the people seen in the attached photos and video who are being sought in connection to a local gunpoint robbery pattern identified in Van Cortlandt Village.
Police from the 50th Precinct said the first incident took place on Monday, Oct. 10, at around 2.39 p.m. when two victims, a 34-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were walking in the vicinity of the corner of Sedgwick Avenue and Hillman Avenue. “Five unidentified male individuals on motorcycles pulled out a firearm (pistol) and demanded their property,” a police spokesperson said.
“The male individuals grabbed the female victim’s necklace from her neck and demanded her cellphone while also demanding cash from the male victim, before fleeing eastbound on Sedgwick Avenue to parts unknown,” the spokesperson added. The value of the property removed from the victims is approximately $1,800. There were no physical injuries reported as a result of the incident.
It reported to police that the second incident occurred on Monday, Oct. 10, at around 3.10 p.m. According to the NYPD, the victim, a 21-year-old man, was walking in the vicinity of West 238th Street and Bailey Avenue, when four unidentified male individuals, on two motorcycles, approached the victim, pulled out a gun, and stole the victim’s chain from around his neck, along with his cellphone.
“The male individuals them fled eastbound on West 238th Street to parts unknown [on their motorcycles],” police said. The value of the property removed from the victim is estimated at $3,200. There were no physical injuries reported as a result of the incident.
The group of four are described as male, are estimated to be between 16 and 18 years of age, and were seen riding two motorcycles, a red and black one and a black and yellow one.
