A motor vehicle accident was reported on the southbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway, approaching Van Cortlandt Park South, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at around 1:38 p.m. All lanes were cleared as of 2:23 p.m. according to New York State officials.
Norwood News contacted the FDNY to obtain further details on any reported injuries. An FDNY spokesperson said the department was alerted to a two-vehicle road accident at 13.28 on Tuesday, which involved one vehicle which had overturned at Exit 11 of the expressway. The spokesperson said the occupants self-extricated themselves from the vehicle and there were no injuries.
We have contacted NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) and NYPD to ask if any information is yet known on the cause of the incident, which some Citizens’ App users reported as a hit and run collision. Norwood News is, as yet, unable to confirm if indeed the report of a hit and run is confirmed or not.
