Van Cortlandt Park: Daylight Robbery of Livery Driver

The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s assistance identifying the man seen in the attached photo and video who is sought in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred in the 50th precinct.

On Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at 1 p.m., in the vicinity of Hudson Parkway and Mosholu Parkway, in Van Cortlandt Park, a 28-year old male livery driver stopped to offer assistance to a vehicle that appeared to have mechanical trouble on the side of the road. When the suspect got into the victim’s livery car, the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money from the driver.

The driver then drove to an undisclosed bank location and removed approximately $1,400 from his bank account and gave it to the suspect. The suspect then exited the victim’s livery vehicle and got into a gray SUV that was being driven by an unknown accomplice and fled the location to parts unknown. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as male, 20 to 30 years of age. The video and photo of the individual were taken from the vicinity of the incident location by the victim, during the incident.
