A 23-year-old man has died and three other people were also shot but survived in the Wakefield section of The Bronx in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police said that on Sunday, Jan. 21, at around 6.08 a.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at 4137 White Plains Road. They said “Upon arrival, officers observed a 23-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the torso, a 44-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg, and a 26-year-old male with a gunshot wound to torso inside the location.”
They said the 23-year-old victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced deceased, the 44-year-old and 26-year-old victims were also transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition, and a fourth victim, a 52-year-old man, was later discovered with a gunshot wound to the leg.
They said he was also later transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition. “There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
As reported, the NYPD is also searching for a group sought in connection with the shooting of two people on White Plains Road in May 2023.
On Sunday, Jan. 21, police released the name of the deceased as Dashawn Hibbert from the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx, adding that the victim’s family had been notified.
