UPDATE Wakefield: One Dead, One Injured in Shooting

A 24-year-old man has died and a 42-year-old man has been hospitalized following a shooting in Wakefield over the weekend.

Police said that on Sunday, March 19, at around 11.48 p.m. officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at a deli located at 4702 White Plains Road.

 

An NYPD spokesperson said, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 24-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the torso. EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased.” The spokesperson added, “A second victim from this incident, a 42-year-old male, with a gunshot wound to his right leg, was transported via private means to Montefiore Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.”

 

Police said there are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

The deceased has since been identified as Dayquon Simmons, 24, of Westchester County.
