UPDATE Wakefield: Murder Investigation Launches after Fatal Shooting of 36-Year-Old Man

Police shared video footage on Monday, Dec. 9, of a person of interest who is sought for questioning following the fatal shooting of a 36-year-old man in the Wakefield section of The Bronx on Thursday.

 

As reported, an NYPD spokesperson said that on Thursday, Dec. 5, at around 3.34 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call for a report of an assault at 688 East 223rd Street. “Upon arrival, officers observed a 36-year-old male with gunshot wound to the head,” the spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the male aided to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in Morris Park, where he succumbed to his injuries. There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.”

Police said the deceased was identified as Melquan Johnson, 36, of Staten Island.

 

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, on Monday, the NYPD requested the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached video who they say is sought for questioning in connection with the incident.

They said the individual sought is described as male, has a dark complexion and a heavy build, and was last seen wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black Crocs.
