UPDATE Wakefield: Man Arrested on Murder Charge following Fatal Shooting of 32-Year-Old Man

A 31-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal shooting in mid-April of a 32-year-old man in the Wakefield section of The Bronx, police said.

 

As reported, an NYPD spokesperson said that on Tuesday, April 18, at around 10.53 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot in front of 4531 Hill Avenue.

 

“Upon arrival officers observed a 32-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased.”

 

There were no initial arrests police said, and the deceased was later identified as Aboubacar Drame from the Wakefield section of The Bronx.

 

Pursuant to what was described by police as an ongoing investigation, on Monday, May 1, police officials said Tavaree Hyatt of Hill Avenue in Wakefield was arrested on Monday.

 

He was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
