UPDATE Wakefield: Man, 51, Arrested on Murder Charges following Fatal Shooting of 34-Year-Old in Head

A 51-year-old man has been arrested following the shooting of a 34-year-old man in Wakefield. The man died following a gunshot wound to the head.

 

As reported, police officials said that on Sunday, June 5, at approximately 8.39 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about an aided man at Wilder Avenue and Cranford Avenue, within the confines of the 47th Precinct.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head. EMS responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene,” they said. There were no arrests and the investigation remained ongoing. 

 

The identification of the deceased had been pending family notification, police said. In the meantime, on June 6, police confirmed that the deceased was identified as Kimar Street, 34, of South Bond Street, Mount Vernon.

On Wednesday, July 6, pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said a Blaine Lea, 51, of Rich Avenue, Mount Vernon, was arrested in the 47th Precinct on  Tuesday, July 5, at 3.45 p.m.

 

He has been charged with murder, manslaughter, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon. A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
