Police have made an arrest in the murder investigation of a 19-year-old male who was shot multiple times in the chest last month in Wakefield.
On Friday, March 25, at approximately 6.48 p.m., police responded to gunshot activity which was picked up by certain gunshot technology at 4389 Matilda Avenue in Wakefield. Upon arrival, officers observed a 19-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso in front of 638 Nereid Avenue, also in the Wakefield section of the borough.
EMS responded and transported the aided man to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No arrests have been made in the investigation and it remains ongoing at this time.
The deceased was identified on March 26 as Kevaughn Reynolds of Nereid Avenue in Wakefield.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Friday, April 15, a 30-year-old man was arrested in the context of the investigation. Brian Smith, of Anderson Avenue from the Highbridge section of The Bronx was charged with murder, manslaughter, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
