UPDATE University Heights: Man Arrested following Attempted Rape

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a burglary and attempted rape in the University Heights section of The Bronx.

The NYPD had been seeking the public’s help in locating the person seen in the attached video and photos who was sought in connection to the incident.

  

On Thursday, Sept. 15, at around 9.50 a.m., the suspect approached an undomiciled female victim (of an unknown age) inside an apartment building, located at 2114 Aqueduct Avenue.

 

He exposed himself to her, removed the victim’s pants, and attempted to rape her, at which point a passerby caused the suspect to flee the scene. The victim also fled the location and did not report any physical injuries.

On Monday, Sept. 19, police said, pursuant to the ongoing investigation, Justin Washington, 25, of Phelan Place in the Morris Heights section of the borough was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 8a.m. in the 41st Precinct. He was charged with attempted rape, burglary, attempted burglary, sex abuse, forcible touching, assault and lewdness.

 

A person arrested for a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
