Further Update: Man Arrested in Connection with Attempted Rape in Fordham Manor

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of the unidentified individual seen in the attached video who is sought in connection with an attempted rape that occurred in the 52nd precinct. 

 

It was reported to police that on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021 at 7 p.m., a 33-year-old woman was walking up the stairwell of her apartment building, located in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx, when an unknown individual grabbed her from behind and attempted to rape her.

 

 

While the suspect was attempting to unzip his pants, the victim bit his right hand. The suspect then fled the location to parts unknown. The victim was not injured, but was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx for evaluation.

 

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, with a light complexion, thin build, and was last seen wearing a black winter hat, black jacket, black pants with a white stripe on the side, and black shoes.

 

The attached surveillance video shows the suspect after the incident, and was obtained from inside the incident location.

 

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, on Wednesday, Jan. 13, the police released additional photos of the suspect, which are attached.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police confirmed on Jan. 18, 2021 that Fausto Perez, 33, of Nelson Avenue in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx was arrested and charged with attempted rape on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at 3.10 p.m. in the 41st precinct.

 

An arrest is not proof that a person is guilty of an offense.
