Norwood News reached out to FDNY on Friday for further details of the incident and at 1.33 p.m., a representative wrote, “11.08 hrs Bedford Park Blvd/Villa Ave, BX reports of motor vehicle accident. Firefighters on scene extricated one patient from a vehicle rollover. One civilian treated and transported to St Barnabus.”

The NYPD confirmed on Saturday, May 1, a parked unattended vehicle was also struck causing damage to the driver side.

One local resident who did not wish to give his name, was at the corner store when the incident took place. He said it happened very fast, and that he was somewhat unsure of his recollection of the events. He told the Norwood News he saw the car “coming from up the hill” [the block between Grand Concourse and Villa Avenue].

He then added that he thought he [the driver] looked like he was trying to make a U-turn. He said he saw the car coming and added, “Next thing you know, it flips.” He said one man, who he described as an older man, was taken to hospital.
