The NYPD said they have arrested an 18-year-old male in connection with a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a second 18-year-old male in the Olinville section of The Bronx earlier this month.
As reported, police said that on Friday, June 2, at 6.22 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a male who had been shot in front of 3329 Olinville Avenue.
“Upon arrival, police discovered an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the chest,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced deceased. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.”
Police said the deceased has been identified as Nixon Rodriguez of Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
On June 12, the NYPD announced that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Jamal Garrett, 18, of Manhattan was arrested on Sunday, June 11, at 2 p.m. Garrett was charged with murder, manslaughter, aggravated manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
In mid-April, we had reported in connection with a separate fatal shooting that a 17-year-old male had been arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of a second 17-year-old male.
