Police said they have made an arrest in the case of the recent fatal shooting of a 17-year-old male youth in Olinville.
As reported, according to the NYPD, the shooting took place on Monday, April 10, at around 10.05 p.m. A police spokesperson said officers from the 47th Precinct / Transit District 12 responded to a 911 call regarding a male who had been shot inside Burke Avenue subway station, located on White Plains Road, serving the 5 and the 2 lines.
“Upon arrival, police observed two 17-year-old males with gunshot wounds,” the spokesperson said. The first victim had multiple gunshot wounds to his head, arm and shoulder, police said, while the second had a gunshot wound to his hip. “EMS transported both males to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where Victim #1 was pronounced deceased and Victim #2 is listed in stable condition,” the spokesperson said.
There were no initial arrests and the investigation remained ongoing. The deceased was later identified as Kymani Woods, 17, of Holland Avenue in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx.
On April 16, police said pursuant to an ongoing investigation, an unidentified 17-year-old male was arrested on Friday, April 14, at 4.50 p.m. in the 47th Precinct. He’s been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a firearm.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
