The NYPD said that a 2-month-old baby girl has been located and is safe after it was reported on Wednesday, Oct. 4, that a “custodial interference” incident involving the infant had occurred on the border of Belmont and Fordham Manor.
Details of the incident were scarce but a police spokeswoman told Norwood News that on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at around 3.29 p.m., police responded to a 911 call at 400 East Fordham Road regarding the matter.
“A 28-year-old female was on a supervised visit with her 2-month-old daughter when she left the location with her daughter,” the spokeswoman said. “There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.”
When asked for further clarification regarding exactly who was interfering with the custody of the child, the spokeswoman clarified that the mother in question had been granted permission for a supervised visit of her child [but was not authorized to remove her daughter at that time from the location].
When asked for a description of the child [or the mother], we were informed that no further details were available at that stage.
Police confirmed on Friday that the baby was located and is safe.
