The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the three people seen in the attached video and photos who department officials say are sought in connection with a home invasion robbery in Norwood during which a 5-year-old boy was threatened with a gun and a 58-year-old woman was pistol-whipped.

Police said that on Wednesday, April 26, at around 8 a.m. inside an apartment building, located in the vicinity of Gates Place and West Gun Hill Road, three people, acting together, waited outside the apartment of a 30-year-old female victim until the door was eventually opened.

At that point, according to police, the three entered the apartment, allegedly displayed a gun, pointed it at the victim’s 5-year-old son and threatened to shoot him unless the victim gave the group money. They said the group then allegedly pistol-whipped the victim’s 58-year-old mother and forced the victim into a back bedroom where a safe was located.

Police said the group allegedly robbed the safe which contained $40,000 in cash, Individual 1 and 2 allegedly fled the location with the safe in a gray sedan, while Individual 3 allegedly fled the location in a dark blue SUV. “The 30-year-old victim and her 5-year-old son were not physically injured,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “The 58-year-old female victim sustained a minor injury and refused medical attention at the scene.”

Norwood News spoke to one female resident of the area on Monday, May 1, and asked if she had heard about the incident. She replied, “No, I don’t know anything about it. I found out about it on Saturday night. My neighbor sent me the news clipping. That was about it but I don’t know anything about it. I don’t really hang out on Gates [Place] or Knox [Place] you know, but I did hear about it, but that’s all I know, whatever was on the news.”

Asked if she had heard if a safe was taken, the woman replied, “No, but all I could think about was at the end of the day it had to be somebody that knew that that was there. Think about it. They must have known what was there because at the end of the day, how are you going to walk in somewhere not knowing what was there? Somebody knew what was in there. That was a set-up.”

Individual 1 is described as male, is estimated to be between 18 and 20 years of age, is around 5 feet, 8 inches tall, has a light complexion and a slim build, according to police. They said he was last seen wearing a black face mask, a gray, hooded sweatshirt with a Nike logo on the front, dark colored pants, and white sneakers.

Individual 2 is also described as male, police said, is also estimated to be between 18 and 20 years of age, is also around 5 feet, 8 inches tall, has a light complexion and a thin build. Police said he was last seen wearing a black face mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers, and white gloves.
