POLICE ARE LOOKING to identify the person seen in the video in connection to a fatal stabbing that occurred in the Northeast Bronx on July 6, 2022.
The NYPD said they have made an arrest following the murder of a 30-year-old man in the Laconia section of the Northeast Bronx in July.
Police said officers responded to a 911 call regarding a knife assault in the vicinity of East Gun Hill Road and Seymour Avenue, in the 49th Precinct on Wednesday, July 6, at around 11.39 p.m.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 30-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive inside a vehicle, with stab wounds about the body, in front of 1381 East Gun Hill Road,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and pronounced [the] victim deceased at the scene. Further investigation revealed the victim was involved in a dispute with another male at Schorr Place and Eastchester Road [in Pelham Gardens] when he is stabbed by the suspect.”
The police spokesperson said the victim then got into a vehicle and attempted to drive away from the location before he struck a pole at 1381 East Gun Hill Road in The Valley section of the borough [also in the Northeast] and remained at the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
On Saturday, July 9, police identified the deceased as Jorge Valentin, 30, of Monterey Avenue in the Tremont section of The Bronx.
The attached photos and video were attained from the vicinity of 1450 Allerton Avenue, located south of Laconia, and are time-stamped after the incident occurred.
On Friday, Aug. 12, the NYPD announced that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Jaivon Cherry, 18, of Holland Avenue in the Allerton section of The Bronx was arrested in connection with the incident. Police said he was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
