The New York Yankees and Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) are looking for youth leaders who live within the CB7 boundaries to be considered for the annual New York Yankees Community Council Youth Leadership Award. The application period is still open for another short time, according to Bronx CB7. The original deadline was in early March, was originally extended to March 16, and later to April 4, but has since once extended once more.
We’ve been advised that there is no hard deadline but it remains open generally for another few days so the earliest people apply, the better.
Bronx CB7 representatives said participants must live within Bronx Community District 7 to apply. To check if a candidate is eligible, input their address under “Who Represents Me” via the following link: http://www.mygovnyc.org/.
To be considered as a candidate for the Youth Leadership Award, applicants must submit the documents/information listed below to jadguzman@cb.nyc.gov.
Required Documents/Information
✔ Resume, which includes education, voluntary and/or extracurricular activities, and if applicable, work experience, award(s) received, report card, etc.
✔ A reference letter from school, a volunteer group, and/or volunteer organization stating that the applicant has performed 50 hours of leadership/volunteer work as a tutor, mentor, community unity developer, community organizer against violence, bullying, and/or any other advocacy effort, etc.
The application form is available to download on the second page of the following webpage:
