Police said three people have now been arrested after a 34-year-old man died and three others were injured following a multiple shooting in the Mt. Hope section of The Bronx in 2023.
NYPD officials said that on Monday, July 24, 2023 at approximately 2.44 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at 255 East Burnside Avenue.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the torso, a 23-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg, and a 37-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the foot,” a police spokesperson said.
“The 34-year-old victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” the spokesperson added. “The 23-year-old male was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition. The 37-year-old victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas in stable condition. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.”
Later on Monday morning, police said a 32-year-old man was also later transported by private means to Montefiore Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the back. They said a preliminary investigation determined that the injury was sustained during the same incident. “The investigation remains ongoing,” police said.
The deceased was identified on July 26, 2023 as Vlademir Perdomo, 34, of Westchester Avenue in the South Bronx.
Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, police said Estharlin Rivera, 32, of Mt. Hope was arrested on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 9.45 p.m. in the 46th Precinct. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Additionally and pursuant to the ongoing investigation, police said Franklin Franco Vicioso, 23, also of Mt. Hope was also arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 3.20 p.m. in the 46th Precinct.
On Jan. 13, pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said a 37-year-old man, Luis Aguero Amparo of Manhattan was also arrested. They said he charged on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m. with murder, attempted murder, criminal possession of a firearm, assault, and reckless endangerment.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
