A 19-year-old male youth from Pelham Parkway has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a man, his partner, and their young child inside a residential home in Mott Haven.
Police said that on Sunday, Nov. 26, at around 6.40 a.m. officers responded to a 911 call regarding an aided male inside a residential building on East 136th Street. They said upon arrival, officers observed a 38-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with stab wounds to the torso on the first floor hallway of the building.
“Upon further investigation, officers discovered a 33-year-old woman and a 5-year-old boy, unconscious and unresponsive, with stab wounds to the body inside the apartment,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded and pronounced all three deceased at the scene. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.”
The deceased have since been identified as Jonathan Rivera, 38, of East 136th Street, Bronx, Hanoi Peralta, a 33, also of East 136th Street, Bronx, and Kayden Rivera, 5, also of East 136th Street, Bronx.
According to the Breaking News Network, the perpetrator had barricaded himself inside the location and an emergency services unit requested to gain entry by taking down the door.
The NY Daily News reported on Monday, Nov. 27, that according to an NYPD source, police believed the three were killed by a relative.
Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, police said that Jayden Rivera, 19, of Wallace Avenue in The Bronx, who, according to a separate story by the NY Daily News, had been hospitalized in a psychiatric ward following the stabbing, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. According to reporting by the NY Daily News, Jayden Rivera is a half-brother to Kayden Rivera, and son of Jonathan Rivera.
They said he was charged with the murder of multiple victims, murder with intent, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
