The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the two people seen in this video who they say are sought in connection to an assault that occurred on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 at the intersection of East 194th Street and Bainbridge Avenue in Fordham Manor. The NYPD said they have arrested a second person following a nonfatal shooting of two people in Fordham Manor last month.
As reported, police had been asking for the public’s assistance identifying the two people seen in the attached video and photo who they said were sought in connection to the incident.
They said that on Monday, Jan. 1, at around 3 p.m. at the intersection of East 194th Street and Bainbridge Avenue, two people displayed guns and fired them multiple times, striking two victims at the location. “A 21-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg and was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition,” a spokesperson said.
“A 22-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to [the] right foot and was transported by private means to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition,” the spokesperson added. “The unidentified individuals fled westbound on East 194 Street and were last seen fleeing on foot into the Kingsbridge Road subway station.”
On Tuesday, Jan. 9, police said that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Niorge Martinez, 27, of Kingsbridge Heights in The Bronx was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 6 a.m. They said he was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of reckless endangerment.
Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, police said on Feb. 6, that Carmelo Torres, 27, from the Parkchester section of The Bronx, was also arrested in connection with the incident. They said he was charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
