The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s assistance identifying the person seen in this video who the department says is sought in connection with an assault that occurred in Fordham Heights on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Police said they have arrested a man for an assault on a 62-year-old man in Fordham Heights earlier this month. The NYPD had been asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached video and photos who department officials said was sought in connection with the attack.
Police said that on Sunday, May 21, at approximately 8.50 p.m., in front of 2200 Grand Concourse, a 62-year-old male victim was approached by an unknown individual and a verbal dispute ensued. “The dispute escalated, at which point the individual grabbed the victim and threw him to the ground, resulting in the victim’s head striking the pavement,” a police spokesperson said.
“The individual then fled the location to parts unknown,” the spokesperson added. “The victim sustained a severe injury to his head and was transported by EMS to BronxCare Health System, where he was admitted in stable condition.”
The suspect sought was described by police as male, is estimated to be in his late 50s, has a dark complexion, a medium build, gray hair, and a gray beard. Police said he was last seen wearing a black, Yankee baseball hat, a black jacket, a red shirt, gray pants and black sneakers.
According to the NYPD, the attached video and photos show the suspect prior to the incident and were obtained near the incident location.
On Saturday, May 27, pursuant to what was described as an ongoing investigation, police said Arkym Davis, 49, of the Grand Concourse in Fordham Heights was arrested in connection with the incident. They said he was charged the same day at 12.55 p.m. in the 46th Precinct, with two counts of assault, aggravated harassment, and harassment.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
