A 30-year-old man was shot in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx on Friday afternoon, Dec. 16, police said.
A police spokesperson told Norwood News the incident took place at about 2.30 p.m. on Friday, at 2314 Valentine Avenue. “We have a male shot in the chest and he was taken to St. Barnabas (Hospital),” the police spokesperson said. “The medical staff have determined that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. Initially, they said it was a BB gun but now it’s a gunshot wound.”
Asked about the victim’s condition, if known, the spokesperson replied that he was not likely to die. Asked if there was a suspect at this point, we were informed that the incident was still under investigation. We also asked if the 30-year-old was the only person injured and were informed this was the case.
No further information regarding the circumstances of the shooting were available.
Emergency services trucks (FDNY) were seen nearby at 2366 Grand Concourse about two blocks away from where the shooting took place in an unverified video posted to the Citizens’ App. It is unknown at this stage if the activity at the two locations is related. Norwood News has reached out to the FDNY for more information and will update this story should we receive more details.
