An earlier, unofficial police radio report at 11.58 p.m. on the night of the incident confirmed that there had been a multiple shooting at the stated location, and that ESU had been requested for “evidence search.” The Emergency Service Unit (ESU) is part of the special operations bureau of the New York City Police Department.

The report also confirmed that two people, one male and one female, had been shot, and that NYPD had requested an aviation unit to assist with a “perp search.” The condition of the aided was unknown at that time of the initial report.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story referred to a resident’s account of the shooting with the resident saying that there had been a big fight beforehand and police presence in the area all night. In fact, that resident was actually referring to a separate shooting incident in another location in a nearby neighborhood on the same night. We apologize for this error.
