UPDATE Crotona: Ten Injured in Multiple Car Crash

Ten people were injured following a multiple vehicle collision which involved an MTA bus and at least two other cars in the Crotona section of The Bronx on Sunday.

 

Police said that cops responded on Sunday, July 23, at around 7.20 p.m. in the vicinity of East 180th Street and Mohegan Avenue to a three-vehicle accident.

 

Cops said it was reported to them that a 2020 Toyota was travelling eastbound on East 180th Street when it collided (rear-ended) with a 2012 MTA Bus.

They said the Toyota proceeded to then hit and collide with a 2019 Nissan.

 

They said the second vehicle (the Nissan) was parked on East 180th Street and a third vehicle was travelling westbound on East 180th Street.

The NYPD said all ten individuals reported minor injuries and were reported to be in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

One Bronx resident shared the attached photos and a video of the scene obtained from a nearby deli.  “Another ‘speedy outcome’ TLC  (Taxi & Limousine Commission) vs MTA,” the resident wrote. “Life saved by Hustler barber shop and the deli on 180th and Crotona Pkwy, and neighborhood people.”

She added, “Update – driver was NOT intentionally speedy. He was having a seizure.” Norwood News cannot confirm if this is the case and is attempting to connect with the resident for further clarification. We have also reached out to the City authorities and will update this story upon receipt of any additional information we receive.
