Bronx Week 2022 is back in full swing. The Bronx Tourism Council has employed Bronx-based, event management company, E218 Events Management, to manage the Bronx Ball, one of the highlights of the 10-day-long Bronx Week 2022 festival which is packed with various activities. The black-tie gala honoring the Bronx Walk of Fame inductees will take place on Saturday, May 14, and the Bronx Week 2022 Grand Finale Concert will take place on May 15.
This year the Bronx Ball will be held at The Penisula, located at 1215 Spofford Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474, in the a brand new facility that, according to E218 Events Management, incubates, supports, and sustains homegrown, light industrial businesses that spring from growing sectors in the South Bronx economy. The venue’s management team aims for the space to generate high-quality, living wage and career-oriented jobs.
Not coincidentally, the new building was erected on the former site of the Spofford Juvenile Detention Center. According to E218 Events Management, this serves as further evidence of the Bronx’s commitment to revitalize the image and perception of the South Bronx.
After decades of planning family and community events, the family-owned events management business has broadened its horizons and has expanded into the corporate world, producing product launches, business anniversaries and formal galas.
E218 is also the official event manager at the Andrew Freedman Home, a historic building constructed for Andrew Freedman that has been renovated into an artists’ hub consisting of an interdisciplinary artist residency, an incubator space, workforce development and community services. It is located at 1125 Grand Concourse in the Concourse section of The Bronx.
Of the Bronx Ball, CEO and co-founder of E218 Events Management, Rhonda James, said, “We are excited to collaborate with our community to restore the reputation of that area.” She added, “The Peninsula is absolutely beautiful and we hope bringing the borough’s top dignitaries, business owners as well as everyday citizens, will help bring to fruition the goals of this transformative, multi-use campus.”
