UPDATE Belmont: No Injuries Reported following Fire at Auto Repair Shop

Firefighters said no injuries were reported following a commercial fire that broke out at a wholesale car dealership in the Belmont section of The Bronx on Saturday evening.

 

FDNY officials told Norwood news they received a call at 8.32 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, for a report of a fire in a one-story, autobody shop (75 x 75) at 2321 Bathgate Avenue, located between East 184th Street and East 185th Street. The location is the site of Prestige Auto Collision & Repair Inc.

 

They said the fire was located inside the shop and 12 units, comprising 60 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene. They said the fire was brought under control at 9.17 p.m. and there were no reported injuries. They said fire marshals are investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.

 

According to Google, the store was closed on Saturday but was due to open on Sunday at 8 a.m.

 

As reported, a 35-year-old man from Harlem was killed in a hit & run accident in Belmont on Friday evening, Feb. 16, and a 25-year-old man from Norwood has been arrested in connection with the incident.
