University Heights: Search for Man Wanted in Connection with Stabbing

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the individual seen in the attached photos who is wanted for questioning in connection with an assault that occurred in the 52nd precinct.

On Friday, Jan. 8, 2020 at approximately 2.55 p.m. in front of 2301 Jerome Avenue (Family Dollar store) in the University Heights section of the Bronx, the suspect approached a 48-year-old man from behind and stabbed the victim in the upper back.

The suspect then fled, on foot, northbound along Jerome Avenue before entering a black van which then left the location. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, where he was treated, and later released.

The suspect is described as an adult male in his 30s or 40s, has a medium build, is dark-skinned, bald and was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a dark blue long-sleeved shirt, dark colored pants and blue sneakers.

The getaway vehicle was a black van with white signage on the side, and green and red pin-striping towards the bottom frame. The attached photos show the individual and the getaway vehicle, and are taken from the incident location.
