University Heights: One Injured after Fire at 2545 Sedgwick Ave

The FDNY reported one minor injury after a fire broke out on Monday evening, Nov. 4, in University Heights.

 

They said the department received a call at 6.12 p.m. for a report of a residential fire in a multiple dwelling at 2545 Sedgwick Avenue between Bailey Avenue and West Kingsbridge Road.

 

They said the fire was on the top floor of a 7-story building and that 12 units comprising 60 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene.

 

They said the blaze was brought under control at 7.19 p.m., there was one minor injury to a civilian, and the cause is under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshals.

 

We’ve reached out to the Red Cross to ask if any residents were displaced and will share any updates we receive.

 

One person died and three were injured at a recent fire at 2264 Beaumont Avenue in the Belmont section of The Bronx on Thursday, Oct. 24, while there was one minor injury reported following a separate Belmont fire at 416 East 187th Street on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
