The NYPD said a 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of another man during an assault in mid-May in University Heights.
Police had asked for the public’s assistance identifying the group of people seen in the attached video in the context of the assault that occurred in the 46th precinct.
It was reported to police that on Monday, May 23, at approximately 00.10 a.m. in front of an FDNY firehouse located at 1901 Sedgwick Avenue, a 33-year-old male victim was approached by an unknown man.
Police said, “The individual displayed a knife and stabbed the victim three times about the body. EMS responded and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical but stable condition.”
Police added that the assailant was last seen leaving the location, eastbound, on West Burnside Avenue with a group of other people, estimated to comprise one male, two females, and a child.
Police added, “The individual is described as a male, approximately 25 years old, with multiple tattoos on his arms and right hand.” They said he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark green camouflage pants, and reflective sneakers.
On June 16, the NYPD said Richard Cushnie, 33, of Lexington Avenue in Manhattan was arrested on charges of assault.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
