Two Sought in Bronx Armed Robbery Pattern

The NYPD said a man previously sought in connection to a robbery of a 14-year-old girl in Kingsbridge is now sought along with a second person in connection to a wider robbery pattern across various Bronx neighborhoods.

 

As reported, police said that on Sunday, June 25, at around 3.40 p.m., a 14-year-old female victim was approached from behind by a person unknown to her in front of 3900 Waldo Avenue. They said the person grabbed her neck and mouth and stole a gold chain from around her neck. They said the victim sustained a minor injury to the neck but refused medical attention.

 

On July 26, pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said they determined that the Kingsbridge incident formed part of a wider Bronx robbery pattern an additional photo of the suspect and one other person was shared with the media. Police said there were eight additional incidents identified as part of the robbery pattern.

 

They said the second incident occurred in Wakefield on Saturday, July 8, at around 5.25 p.m. They said the victim, a 67-year-old woman, was walking in front of 780 East 234th Street when she was approached by two people on a scooter. They said the two people forcibly stole the victim’s chain from around her neck before fleeing the scene. “The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention on scene,” police said.

 

The third incident took place in Olinville on Saturday, July 15, at around 1.20 p.m. Police said the victim, a 69-year-old woman, was exiting her parked vehicle in front of 625 Burke Avenue when she was approached by a person who forcibly stole the victim’s chain from around her neck before fleeing on a scooter with a second person. “The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention on scene,” police said.

Police said a fourth incident occurred in Pelham Gardens just east of the Allerton border on Saturday, July 1, at around 11.15 a.m. They said the victim, a 56-year-old woman, was walking her dog in front of 2332 Esplanade when she was approached by a person unknown to her. They said the person grabbed the victim, unclipped her chain from around her neck and fled on a scooter with a second person. “The victim was uninjured in this incident,” police said.

 

A fifth incident was reported in Allerton on Tuesday, July 4, at around 12.58 p.m. Police said the victim, a 60-year-old woman, was walking in front of 2714 Wallace Avenue when she was approached by two people on a scooter. They said, once again, the assailants forcibly stole the victim’s chain from around her neck before fleeing the location. “The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention on scene,” police said.

 

A sixth incident occurred in Van Cortlandt Village on Thursday, July 13, at around 12.47 p.m. Police said the victim, a 28-year-old woman, was making deliveries inside 80 Van Cortlandt Park South when she was approached by a person who grabbed her by the neck and demanded her chain while simulating possession of a knife. They said the assailant then forcibly stole two of the victim’s chains from around her neck before fleeing on foot. “The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene,” police said.

 

A seventh incident was reported to police as having taken place on Friday, July 14, at around 11.20 a.m. in Kingsbridge Heights. Police said the victim, a 22-year-old woman, was walking her dog in front of 88 West 197th Street when she was approached by a person who forcibly stole three of the victim’s chains from around her neck before fleeing on a scooter. They said the victim was uninjured as a result of the incident.

An eighth incident was reported as having occurred in Van Cortlandt Village on Friday, July 14, at around 11.10 a.m. Police said the victim, a 55-year-old woman, was in front of 3415 Cannon Place when she was approached by a person who brandished a screwdriver and forcibly stole the victim’s chain from around her neck before fleeing the location. They said the victim was uninjured as a result of the incident.

 

A ninth incident was reported to police as having occurred in Fordham Manor on Saturday, June 24, at around 1 p.m. Police said the victim, a 40-year-old woman, was sitting inside St. James Park when she was approached by a person who forcibly stole her chain from around her neck. They said when the victim attempted to stop the assailant, he punched her in the chest. They said the victim suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene by EMS.

 

Police said two people are being sought in connection to the robbery pattern. They are described as male, both with dark complexions and are estimated to be between 5 feet, 10 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall.
