Two Scooter Riders Sought in Bronx Armed Robbery Pattern

The NYPD is seeking the public’s help locating the two people seen in the attached photos and video who are sought for questioning in connection with a robbery pattern identified in The Bronx, in the boundaries of the 46th and 42nd Precincts.

 

Police said the first incident took place on Sunday, Aug. 14, at around 2.58 p.m. at University Avenue and West 180th Street, in University Heights, located in the 46th Precinct. “The 42-year-old male victim was approached by two unknown individuals who were riding on a scooter,” a police spokesperson said. “One of the individuals hopped off the scooter and displayed a firearm at the victim.”

 

Police said the assailant stole the victim’s chain and wallet, which contained personal ID, credit cards and $800. The two then fled on the scooter, traveling northbound along University Avenue. “The victim was not injured,” police added.

 

According to the NYPD, the second incident happened on Sunday, Aug. 14, at around 3.15 p.m. in front of 64 East 183rd Street in Fordham Heights, also in the 46th Precinct. “The 50-year-old male victim was sitting on the front steps of the building when he was approached by two unknown individuals who were riding on a scooter,” a police spokesperson said.

 

“One of the individuals hopped off the scooter and displayed a firearm at the victim, and demanded his chain,” police continued. “The individual removed the victim’s chain and both individuals then fled on the scooter, traveling northbound on Walton Avenue. The victim was not injured.”

 

The third incident was reported to police as having occurred also on Sunday, Aug. 14, at around 3.30 p.m. in front of 1830 Boone Avenue, west of Crotona Park East, located within the 42nd Precinct. Police said a 20-year-old male victim and a 19-year-old male victim were walking in the area when they were approached by two unknown individuals who were riding on a scooter.

“One of the individuals hopped off the scooter and displayed a firearm at the victims and demanded their property,” police said. Between the two victims, he took their shoes, chains, and $1,500 cash. “Both individuals then fled on the scooter, traveling in an unknown direction. The victims were not injured,” police added.

 

The assailants are described as two men in their 20s with medium skin complexions and thin builds. Surveillance video and photos showing the assailants, who were wearing balaclavas while riding the scooter, are attached.
