Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Tuesday, Sept. 24, that two people have been charged with murder and related charges for killing and dismembering a man and transporting his mutilated body on the Metro North train to Yonkers where they burned it.
In the context of the announcement, Clark said, “The defendants allegedly killed and mutilated a man, and then took some remains, in a shopping cart, on a Metro North train to Yonkers where they burned the cart. This was brutal disregard for a human being.”
Prosecutors said that Muhammad Aadil, 40, of Gerard Avenue in the Concourse section of The Bronx was arraigned on Sept. 23, on second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, concealment of a human corpse, criminal possession of a firearm, five counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera.
They said Aadil was kept in custody and is due back in court on December. They said his co-defendant, Ronei Harris, 18, of Kelly Street south of the Longwood section, will be arraigned at a later date.
According to the investigation, the defendants, acting in concert, between July 27, and Aug. 5, allegedly killed Lutalo Henderson, 46, after a dispute in the home Aadil shared with Henderson. The defendants allegedly cut off his legs below the knees, his hands, and removed his jaw. They allegedly wrapped the torso in trash bags and took it in a shopping cart to Yonkers via the Metro North train. There, they allegedly set the cart on fire under the Oak Street Bridge. Investigators were led to an apartment on Rogers Place, where they recovered the body parts.
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Homicide Counsel George Suminski, under the supervision of Burim Namani, Deputy Chief of the Homicide Bureau, Christine Scaccia, Chief of the Homicide Bureau, and under the overall supervision of James Brennan, Deputy Chief of the Trial Division, and Theresa Gottlieb, Chief of the Trial Division.
Clark thanked NYPD Detective Kevin Mockel of the Bronx Homicide Squad, NYPD Detective Jessica Gonzalez, and NYPD Officer Mark Dutan of the 41 Precinct, and Detective Michael DeRosa of the Yonkers Police Department for their work on the case.
The defendants are deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
