Two Bike Thieves Sought in Bronx Theft Pattern

The NPYD is asking for the public’s help identifying the people seen in the attached video and photos who they say are wanted in connection to a pattern of theft identified across the 44th, 48th, and 52nd Precincts in Highbridge, Fordham Manor, Mt. Eden, West Farms and Tremont, in recent weeks.

 

Police said that on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at around 5 p.m., in the 44th Precinct, two unidentified people on a bicycle approached a 34-year-old female victim in the vicinity of Ogden Avenue and Jerome Avenue in Highbridge and snatched a chain from the victim’s neck, before fleeing to parts unknown. They said there were no injuries reported following the incident.

 

Police said a second incident occurred on Thursday, Feb. 27, at around 6.20 p.m. in the 52nd Precinct when, once again, two unidentified people on a bicycle approached a 19-year-old male victim in front of 2478 Jerome Avenue in Fordham Manor. They said the two snatched a chain from the victim’s neck and fled to parts unknown. They said there were no injuries reported following the incident.

Police said that on Friday, Feb. 28, at around 4 p.m., in the 44th Precinct, two unidentified people on a bicycle approached a 17-year-old male victim in front of 1490 Macombs Road in Mt. Eden. They said the two attempted to snatch a chain from the victim’s neck and then fled to parts unknown. They said there were no injuries reported following the incident.

 

Police said a fourth incident occurred on Saturday, March 1, at around 2 p.m. in the 44th Precinct when two unidentified people on a bicycle once again approached a 19-year-old female victim in the vicinity of Grand Concourse and East 170th Street, again in Mt. Eden. They said the two snatched a chain from the victim’s neck and fled to parts unknown. They said there were no injuries reported following the incident.

 

A fifth incident took place on Thursday, March 6, at around 3.15 p.m. in the 48th Precinct, according to police. They said two unknown individuals on a bicycle approached a 64-year-old female victim in front of 882 East 180th Street in West Farms, and snatched a chain from the victim’s neck, before fleeing to parts unknown. They said there were no injuries reported during the incident.

Police said that on Thursday, March 6, at around 3.20 p.m., again in the 48th Precinct, two unknown people on a bicycle approached a 31-year-old female victim in front of 750 East Tremont Avenue in the Tremont section of the borough. They said the two snatched two chains from the victim’s neck and then fled to parts unknown. They said there were no injuries reported during the incident.
