Tributes Paid to the Late Phyllis Gibson, Mother of Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson

Tributes are being paid to Ms. Phyllis Gibson, mother of Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, who announced her death on Monday, Aug. 5.

 

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my beloved Mother and Queen, Phyllis Gibson,” the borough president wrote. “She was not only my guiding light and a source of unwavering support but also a pillar of strength and kindness in our community.”

 

The borough president continued, “We love you, Momma Gibson, forever and ever! Rest well with the Angels in God’s Kingdom. Details for the Celebration of Life will be shared once details are finalized.”

 

The borough president habitually thanked her mom and all her family during her annual State of the Borough addresses, and they were also usually in attendance. Her full statement can be read below.

Yvette Crespo wrote in response to the news, which was shared on social media, “Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of your esteemed Mother and Queen, Phyllis Gibson. She was a shining example of strength and kindness in our community, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. May God grant you the strength to bear this great loss. May she rest in peace.”

Blondina Thompson wrote, “So sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved mom. She has raised you into the brilliant person you are today. She did well continue to carry on her legacy!!”

Meanwhile, Oswald Denis wrote, “Madam Borough President, my deepest condolences and prayers for your loss. Heaven has won another angel, another warrior has won the battle of life and now rejoicing in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!”
