Tremont: Man Sought following Attempted Robbery & Shooting at Gas Station

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached video who is sought for questioning following an attempted robbery and shooting of a 51-year-old man in Tremont.

 

Police said that it was reported to them that the incident unfolded on Friday, March 3, at approximately 00.45 a.m. when a 51-year-old male victim was at Gulf Gas Station, located at 1805 Webster Avenue in Tremont, as he was pumping gas into his vehicle.

 

An NYPD spokesperson said, “An unidentified male individual drives up to the pumps in a white Mercedes Benz, exits his vehicle, approached the victim and attempts to remove his chain from around his neck while pointing a firearm.” The spokesperson continued, “The victim then sprays the male with gasoline and the male discharges the firearm towards the victim striking him once in the face. The male individual then enters his vehicle and flees to parts unknown.”

 

Police said the victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical but stable condition. The suspect is described as male, is estimated to be in his 30s, has a thin build, a dark complexion, is around 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and is estimated to weigh around 180 to 190 pounds. Surveillance video showing the male suspect is attached.
