In celebration of Pride Month, and kicking off New York City’s post-pandemic summer, Rockefeller Center opened submissions on Friday, May 14, for couples to experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate a complimentary wedding at the center.
The “Love Above All” series is an annual Rockefeller Center tradition to celebrate and support the LGBTQ community during Pride. Following the “Love Above All Ball,” held in 2019 at the Rainbow Room, the 2020 “Love Above All Virtual Auction” raised over $42,000 for The Ali Forney Center, the largest LGBTQ community center helping LGBTQ homeless youth in the United States. This year, events have been adapted to adhere to COVID-19 safety precautions, which has led to the “Love Above All Weddings” celebrations.
Love Above All Weddings will offer each of five couples a wedding ceremony with up to ten guests at 620 Loft & Garden, Rockefeller Center’s private rooftop garden overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Fifth Avenue. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests will be treated to a champagne toast and wedding cake at the iconic Rainbow Room where they will enjoy a special performance by a star of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
Finally, organizers confirm that to help commemorate the special day, each couple will enjoy their very own wedding photoshoot at the “Top of the Rock” observation deck, which features unparalleled and unobstructed 360-degree views of New York City’s skyline.
EB Kelly is the managing director of Tishman Speyer, the entity which oversees Rockefeller Center. “Rockefeller Center is a place that has always celebrated equality and love, and we are overjoyed to participate in this year’s Pride festivities and have the opportunity to help New Yorkers create their most incredible experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives,” Kelly said.
“We can feel the love already, and we invite all New Yorkers whose weddings may have had to be reimagined because of the pandemic, or those who are simply ready now, to share their stories, their support for the LGBTQ+ community, and celebrate their special occasion at Rockefeller Center this Pride.”
With effect from Friday, May 14, couples are invited to submit their applications for the dream wedding opportunity at rockefellercenter.com/love-above-all-weddings, where they will be asked to share their love story, and how they support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
Couples can send in submissions through June 1, and the winning couples will be announced on June 4, with The Ali Forney Center selecting the couples who will receive the Love Above All Wedding experiences. Presented with support from New York Magazine, the weddings will be officiated and planned by Ultimate USA Weddings, the exclusive wedding planners for Top of the Rock.
