Lottery officials subsequently announced that the lottery had resumed the processing of Mega Millions tickets at retailers for the May 10 drawing, after a human error was discovered relating to the same May 10 Mega Millions draw. The error had reportedly caused the lottery to pay out, until 10 a.m. (approximately) on May 11, a total of $5,538 to players who had presented retailers with tickets showing incorrect winning numbers.
Lottery officials said the payments were recouped automatically via a lottery account for uncashed tickets.
