The Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present “The Greatest Love of All,”  A Tribute to Whitney Houston, starring Belinda Davids on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. According to the show’s promoters, the critically acclaimed tribute show brings Whitney Houston’s musical legacy to life with breathtaking performances of iconic ballads like “I Will Always Love You” and “Greatest Love of All.”

Backed by a live band, backing vocalists and choreographed dancers, promoters say Davids, a RiSA chart-topping artist from South Africa, delivers a stunning tribute to one of the world’s most celebrated voices for one night only, having captivated audiences across the UK, Australia, Asia, South Africa and the U.S.

They said Davids, born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, discovered her passion for music at a young age, growing up in a gospel-influenced household of seven children. Known for her remarkable 4-octave vocal range, they said she began performing professionally at just 14 years of age, wowing audiences with her ability to sing across genres.

They said her lifelong admiration for Houston began when she first heard the duet “Hold Me” (1983), recorded by Houston and Teddy Pendergrass, which became one of the first LPs Davids ever owned. Promoters said without formal training, Davids quickly gained recognition, with her original single “We Go Together” from her self-titled album Belinda Davids (1996) topping South Africa’s RiSA charts for six weeks.

They continued, saying, over the years, Davids has shared stages with global icons, opening for international artists like Michael Jackson on his History tour, The Manhattans, and The Temptations. They said she has performed in Dubai, London, and Hong Kong, where audiences demanded she sing acapella due to her striking vocal resemblance to Whitney Houston, and that in 2013, Davids was cast in “The Greatest Love of All – A Tribute to Whitney Houston,” a role that has taken her to over 30 countries and solidified her as a global sensation.

They said her 2017 performance of “I Will Always Love You” on Showtime at the Apollo garnered millions of views, and in 2018, she debuted a special orchestral concert series of The Greatest Love of All in the UK, performing with The National Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

The show is presented by Creative Booking Agency and Showtime. The Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is located on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468.
