CM Dinowitz Breaks Down Highlights of $107 Billion City Budget & $30 Million for C.D. 11

City Councilman Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) gave a budget presentation to district residents on Wednesday, Aug. 2, highlighting some of the local initiatives that will benefit from funding, following the adoption of the City’s $107 billion budget for the 2024 fiscal year. The councilman went over the city budget process, discussed the major highlights from the latest adopted city budget, and broke down some of the $30 million plus in discretionary funding for capital projects and other funding secured for C.D. 11, in conjunction with Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson.

Olinville: Six People Injured in Bronx Partial Wall Collapse at Construction Site

FDNY officials said following what was described as a major technical rescue from a Bronx construction site in the Olinville section of the borough, six people suffered injuries, including three who were hospitalized.   FDNY officials said they received a call at 4.07 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, and units responded to 3073 Barker Avenue for reports of a partial wall collapse. “Members were able to determine that the incident had occurred at a construction site a that location,” FDNY officials said. “There were six patients.”   They said three were treated at the scene but refused transportation to hospital,

Wakefield: 28-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot

A 28-year-old man has died following a fatal shooting in the Wakefield section of The Bronx.   Police said that on Thursday, July 6, at around 5.30 p.m., police received a 911 call regarding a man who was shot in front of 632 East 223rd Street. “EMS responded and transported the aided to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased,” a police spokesperson said. “There have been no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing.”   The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.   Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to

Wakefield: Search for 35-Year-Old Man Reported Missing

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance locating a 35-year-old man reported missing on Tuesday, June 20, from the Wakefield section of The Bronx.   Police said John Canale of 4433 Matilda Avenue in Wakefield was last seen on Tuesday, June 20, at around 5 a.m. inside his home. He is described as being around 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs around 160 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing glasses, a light blue jacket, gray pants, and brown shoes.
